Criminal law and criminology have had a stormy relationship since the appearance of the latter, which focuses its studies on crime and the criminal. The concept of crime, from the normative perspective, is necessarily based on legislation, but crime also has other meanings, in which criminology provides elements to define crime. It is necessary to delimit the object of study, but we must necessarily and forcibly find the meeting point to harmonize and take advantage of the contributions of each of these sciences for the prevention of crime and the protection of legal assets at stake.
