The use of new technologies in corporate communications, mainly the Internet and email, as well as the telephone, has given rise to a new discussion in the workplace about the limits of the employer or business owner to monitor and control the use of these communication tools and to what extent these actions may or may not affect the privacy of employees. This issue is clarified in this paper, with particular reference to the monitoring of telephone communications in the company and its problems in light of the crime of intervention in private communications.
